The Nervous System plays a role in nearly every systemic illness
Living with chronic illness is hard on the mind. And for many people, anxiety, low mood, and poor sleep are not only a reaction to being ill. They seem woven into the illness itself, flaring when the gut flares, lifting when the body settles.
Chinese medicine has always treated the body and mind as one system, which makes it well suited to this kind of tangle.
Adjunctive Chinese herbal medicine for anxiety, depression, insomnia, and mood symptoms, especially alongside chronic physical illness. Coordinated with your mental health care.

My Approach
This is adjunctive care alongside your mental health treatment, not a replacement for it. I treat the whole picture: the physical illness, the sleep, and the emotional strain, together. Formulas are chosen for your pattern, and acupuncture is available where it helps.
Parkinson’s and MS bring more than the symptoms that get measured at a neurology visit. Constipation, poor sleep, fatigue, and a general sense of heaviness often shape the day more than anything else, and they tend to get less attention.
Acupuncture is one of the few treatments available that can help regulate and modulate the Autonomic Nervous System, which is comprised of two components - Sympathetic and Parasympathetic functions. Sympathetic responses are associated with the stress responses, like ‘Fight/Flight/Freeze/Fawn’. Parasympathetic functions are associated with ‘Rest and Digest’.
Working with your prescriber and therapist
I don’t advise stopping or changing psychiatric medication. Every formula is screened for interactions with antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, and sleep medications. With your permission, I coordinate with your prescriber or therapist.
If you are in crisis, please don’t wait for an appointment. Call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room.
Get started
If your mood, anxiety, or sleep are bound up with a physical illness that hasn’t fully resolved, I’d be glad to hear from you.
